Soul Kids Yoga Programs
Our Soul Kids Programs are designed to focus on gross motor skills and flexibility, as well as give children the opportunity to participate in a calming and non-judgmental physical activity suitable for all abilities.
All instructors are certified yoga instructors with a specialization in children’s yoga. Each teacher has a current police clearance, vulnerable sector check, and is trained in First Aid and CPR to ensure the safety of your child and give you peace of mind. The maximum adult to child ratio is 1:10. These classes run simultaneously to our spin/yoga classes so you also have an opportunity to attend a class while your kids and teens stretch right next door!
Our Soulgis-Kid Play program for 2-5 year olds is a structured, 2 hour class that includes animal themed yoga exploration, music, art, free play and movement.
Our kids and youth yoga classes are designed to challenge and develop the skills of each age group and offer a chance to move, stretch, and build strength. These classes are complimentary to sports programs, or perfect to begin a healthy yoga practice from an early age.
Classes are held in our non-heated studio rooms and are available on a drop in basis.
This is a fantastic introductory program for little ones that combines movement, music, and discovery in an interactive, supervised, and engaging learning environment. With this 2 hour program, parents are able to drop their children off while they practice yoga (animal and theme-based stretches), dance to groovy music, play, draw, create art, and learn. This program is based on the Reggio learning philosophy which incorporates principles of open-learning, interactive learning, and community through exploration and discovery in a supportive and enriching environment.
Children between the ages of 6 and 9 lead busy and exciting lives… it is not only important to make sure that they are getting lots of physical activity and learning new things, but also to help them develop positive coping mechanisms that they are able to apply to situations in their daily lives. This class has been created to encourage the healthy development of mental and physical capabilities in children age 6-9. We focus on stability, strength, balance, mental clarity, pranayama (breathing) and calming the mind. The last 10-15 minutes of this class focuses on meditation, breathing and relaxation techniques that children can use at home, at school, or anywhere when they are feeling overwhelmed, angry, upset, or stressed. Our teachers also serve as great mentors for the children and encourage the kids to feel safe at yoga. We are always here to support them through their development!
This 60 minute class is designed for kids ages 10 to 14 and focuses on learning yoga postures and a deeper practice as they begin to prepare for their teenage years.
Through posture, breath-work, meditation and games, students learn to incorporate the principles of yoga (balance, focus, flexibility and strength) into their school and home life. Specific attention is given to learning body awareness and working through muscle tightness.
This class is a great way for kids to clear their minds of any stresses from their day, a chance to recuperate, ground themselves, and think clearly. This class is especially beneficially for kids who are involved in athletic activity as it gives them a chance to stretch out and give their body some much needed attention. We specialize in yoga for dance, athletics, hockey, and gymnastics.
